SWARAJ PARTY ENDORSES UP GOVT. DECISION TO BAN ‘AARAKSHAN’

Swaraj Party, a regional political outfit took out a demonstration in Lucknow on Thursday , endorsing Mayawati government’s decision to ban the screening of Prakash Jha’s controversial film ‘Aarakshan’ in the state.

Speaking to media, Adshay Anupam Mishra, president, Swaraj Party said, “We are happy that the Uttar Pradesh government understands the sensitivity, feelings and thus decided to ban the film. This is our victory. We have always demanded the same.”

The Uttar Pradesh government on
Wednesday imposed a ban on Aarakshan for two months on the grounds that it could create law and order problem in the state. It is said that controversial theme and dialogues of the film may create social unrest and law and problem in the state.

The decision was taken following a recommendation by a high level official committee set up by BSP.

After UP government, the Punjab government on
Thursday has imposed a ban on the release of Aarakshan.
The film is all set to hit the screen on
Aug’ 12.
