‘Kaun Banega Crorepati-5’ launched in Mumbai

The newer version of Sony TV’s popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati’s (KBC) season five launched in Mumbai on Tuesday (August 9).

The show is set to return to small screen in a newer format and a bigger avatar with megastar Amitabh Bachchan as a host again.

Talking to reporters on the launch of KBC-5, Amitabh Bachchan said,” This game show gives an opportunity for everyone to come up and enjoy the benefit of the game and also to exhibit their knowledge that they have and have the opportunity to win lots of money.”

Big B said also said that he was surprised to see so much of talent emerging from small cities in the last season of KBC.

“In the last few season we realized that the talent stays in each strata of society. We had winners from small cities. We never knew that small cities can have so much. They came, they learnt, they utilized their knowledge and won one crore,” said Amitabh Bachchan.

He added there is no need of changing the format of KBC.

“You can not change the format of the game and there are very limited changes you can do within the format. And that has to go through the process through the companies owned franchise on brand. We can’t do anything. You have to work according to the format. I feel lucky to be associated with the Sony TV again,” said Amitabh Bachchan.

The show was first aired in 2000. The first two editions were hosted by Bachchan himself and the third by Shahrukh Khan. Bachchan returned to KBC in the fourth season of the show.

KBC-5 is set to go on air from
August 15.
