One of the most controversial films of 2011, Aarakshan which is directed by Prakash Jha is doing well at the box office, despite being banned in 4 states. The first weekend saw a decent collection, thanks to the Independence Day holiday.
The first weekend saw the film making Rs 18 to Rs. 18.5 crore nett at the box-office. But over the weekend, the collection rose tremendously. On Friday, it was at Rs. 4.75 crore on Friday; Saturday saw a rise to Rs. 6.25 to Rs. 6.5 crores and Sunday, the collections further shot up to Rs. 7 to Rs. 7.25 crore. Independance day saw a collection of Rs. 6.50 crore nett, grand totalling it to Rs. 25 crore nett in its first four days.
