Finally, Shahrukh Khan has unravelled his much vaunted dream project Ra.One to the world with the movie’s first premiere in Dubai on Monday.

Shahrukh Khan, along with Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal, walked the red carpet and wowed the fans at the film’s premiere at Grand Cineplex in Dubai. Thousands of fans had turned up to catch a glimpse of Shahrukh, and he did not disappoint them. In fact, he went out of his way to meet the fans, shake hands with them and even pose for photographs.

Kareena Kapoor looked gorgeous in a Manish Malhotra sari. The designer, who’s also done her costumes in Ra.One, accompanied Kareena at the premiere.

Arjun Rampal looked suave, dressed in a black suit, while Shahrukh opted for a vest jacket.

The film’s supporting actors Shahana Goswami and Armaan Verma and the director Anubhav Sinha also walked the red carpet.

Now, after the Dubai premiere, Shahrukh Khan is headed to London for the premiere on Tuesday.

Well, recently, while launching a store at Hyderabad, Kangana Ranaut told reporters that she was misquoted by the media and she never said that Bollywood actresses are not stylish and do not know how to dress.

“Of course I didn’t mean that. I have been misquoted… I have developed a thick skin to such rumours. After all, it’s better to be in the news than not be written about at all,” said Kangana on a lighter note.

Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani were clicked at an event held to unveil the new 3D trailer of Don 2. At the event, Farhan Akhtar interacted with the media and told them he fears piracy!

Farhan said: “Piracy se darr lagta hai. We are working with people whom we trust. But at the end of the day, one can’t predict and piracy can happen. I just hope nothing gets leaked before the release of the film.”

“I just appeal to people that even after the film gets released, they do not opt for pirated version,” he added.

Well, the 3D trailer of Don 2 has been attached to Shahrukh Khan’s opus Ra.One.

Shahid Kapoor is not the one to take things lying down. After lashing out at a movie critic for slamming his film Mausam, Shahid Kapoor fumed on twitter after reports suggested that he and Anushka Sharma kissed each other at a recent bash thrown by Imran Khan. Shahid Kapoor wrote: “Extremely distasteful story today ...some journalists need to really understand where to draw the line between imagination and Reality . Sad . Unfair . Makes me angry..” He added: “If nothing else they need to respect the dignity of a girl !!!!!” Shahid also said that though he usually does not respond to such stories, this time he felt that the journalist had crossed the limits: “I usually don't react to any of these stories but this one was just a bit much.” A daily had reported that Anushka Sharma and Shahid Kapoor were caught while sharing a cozy moment with each other and their source was quoted as saying: “The duo were incontrollable and were on top of each other. It was only when another celebrity guest told them that the media were still downstairs and they could easily be spotted that they decided to come back inside.”

When asked Ranveer, “there were some reports that your relationship with Anushka Sharma ended because you got too busy and didn’t give much time to your relationship,” he answered, “First of all there was no relationship. When we aren’t working together we are not in touch. We aren’t even connected on the phone. But I’d again say I was never in a relationship with Anushka. Meri aisi kismet kahaan…”

Yes, that’s Ranveer talking as he feels. And what Anushka has to say about him? When asked whether Ranveer cooked for her during the Goa schedule of Ladies V/s Ricky Bahl, Anushka replied that Ranveer would not be able to cook anything even if she is dying. But for her he always remains special!

All these crazy days, he’s been busy promoting ‘Ra.One’, but he was upbeat about one thing, and that was to hide the look of the villain of his film ‘Ra.One’. After the leak of the songChammak Challo and later the entire ‘Ra.One’ music album, Khan was extra cautious about Arjun’s look in the film. 

Arjun Rampal is thrilled to be a part of this grand film. He especially like his supervillain suit and says it’s terrific. You can also notice his scary black mask in the trailer, and if G.One (Shahrukh) has blue eyes, Ra.One (Arjun) has red. 

Apart from Arjun, the movie also has the Chinese-American actor Tom Wu.Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra are the surprise elements of the film as both agreed to do guest appearances, while superstar Rajinikanth is reprising his role of the robot Chitti from Endhiran in ‘Ra.One’, and will be seen in a cameo.

Well, speaking about the cover page, it features Priyanka in black knickers and a matching bra. Priyanka’s styling was done by Nikki Ahmed, make-up by Krystle Gohel and hair by Priyanka Borkar.

People magazine unveiled its third edition of ‘India’s Best Dressed’ at a lavish event attended by the who’s who of the industry. There was even a fashion show by Bollywood’s ace designer Manish Malhotra, and guess who strutted her stuff in sartorial elegance for MM, no one else than India’s Best Dressed actress, Priyanka Chopra.  Priyanka Chopra also graces the mag cover as she has won the title of India’s Best Dressed by the People magazine. Her on-ramp look was traditionally glamorous. Manish Malhotra, who loves to use velvet in his creations, again designed a heavy velvet ghagra-choli with intricate sequins and thread work. Everyone was bedazzled by Priyanka’s velvety eloquence on the ramp, and she is looking slender too. Her willowy frame added pizzazz to her whole appearance.  So who would believe she develops cold feet while walking the ramp! Priyanka once admitted that she is scared of catwalk, but before walking the ramp for People mag ‘India’s Best Dressed’, she tweeted, “been a crazy few days. Gazal God Jagjit Singh Passes Away !!!!!!!

Much has been said about the great ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, who passed away this morning, and much more will be said and written about the musical genius. My mind goes back to the late 70s when I, a collector and avid listener of ghazals and semi-classical music, heard the poem Baat niklegi to door talak jayegi. It swept me off my feet. I had never heard him or his name before.
Jagjit had the finesse of Talat Mahmood and the skill which may not have equalled but came pretty close to Mehdi Hasan’s in the field of ghazal rendition. He said Mehdi Hasan was his guru. That showed not only Mehdi Hasan’s stature but also Jagjit’s greatness in acknowledging it.
In 1979 he and his singer-wife Chitra came to Karachi to perform at concerts. Both of them clicked. EMI Pakistan released the recordings of live performances on audio cassettes. To say that they flew off the shelves of music stores is to say the very obvious. Among the places that the duo performed was the Karachi Press Club, where he was besieged by music fans. That was the only time I met him.
During this trip, he took the ashirwad of his ideal, Mehdi Hasan. He spoke warmly about his ‘spiritual guru’ in subsequent years. When I was doing a book on Mehdi Hasan, he was among the first to give his views in print and subsequently recorded his comments for one of the two CDs that accompany the slim volume. The tributes are worth listening to.
In a telephone conversation, he regretted that Mehdi Hasan had been suffering for so long and added that at least he was still with us. “I would love to see him back on his feet and back in front of a mike,” said Jagjit. But the younger singer couldn’t wait for that to happen, he passed away. By the way, Mehdi Hasan’s family members haven’t told him about Jagjit’s demise. He is in no position to bear that shock.
Excerpts from Jagjit Singh’s comments published in the book Mehdi Hasan: The Man and his Music may well be recalled: “Mehdi sahib’s selection of ghazals is remarkable. His pronunciation is flawless and the magic of his rendition is heightened by the impeccable manner in which he enunciates the words. His voice retains its balance whether he touches the low notes or hits the high ones.” If any singer ever came closest to Mehdi Hasan then he was none other than Jagjit Singh.
